The Rhinecliff Station Platform and Interlocking Project

A slide presentation from NYSDOT on the status of the Rhinecliff station rehabilitation has been publicly posted as a PDF. The presentation is focused on the impact of the project on two historic districts which cover the project area. Next step is a Memorandum of Agreement between NYSDOT and the State Historic Preservation Office on mitigation actions concerning the impact of the new crossover bridge and elevator towers on the historic district.

Work planned and under review includes: station building interior and exterior improvements, including accessibility and repairs and raising station floor level to align with proposed bridge; parking lot improvements, including access to parking lots from station building. Installing a new interlocking and a 1000-foot accessible ADA-compliant high-level platform, with two-thirds platform canopy coverage and construction of area of safe dispersal at north end. Replacement of the station’s crossover bridge, including stairs and elevators. Rehabilitation and modification of secondary egress bridge at south end.
